The lunar related moon phase shows accurate tracking of lunar cycles averaging 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds, and only differs from the true lunisolar cycle by 122.6 years.
The layout of the moon phase display is based on new and realistic concepts. Independently presented solid 18k gold moon orbits the orbit along the foreground on the dial. Its back is also made of solid 18K gold celestial disk, every 24 hours a week. On the disc, the light's interference effect turns blue into a variety of hues to represent different times of the day. A bright sky with no stars during the day, a dark horizon at night, in stark contrast to the laser-cut stars. In this way, the moon always runs around a realistic background, and doubles as a day / night indicator when setting the watch.
The 20th Lange movement with the moon phase display is modeled on the LANGE 1 movement launched two years ago with the same performance. Including a unique double barrel and instantaneous jump big calendar display, power reserve up to 72 hours. LANGE 1 MOON PHASE also has an escapement, attached to the fixed cam and the swing swinging Langge gossamer. The system is suspended below the hand-carved balance wheel and vibrates 21,600 vibrations per hour.
The L121.3 self-made movement cleverly mounts 70 parts of the moon phase, which are only slightly larger than the L121.1 in LANGE 1.
